I first mentioned CPALead months ago when it was a newer CPA program within the industry. Since then, CPALead has distinguished themselves as an excellent choice for webmasters when they are considering CPA advertising. For example, I just started to use CPALead on a watch tv online niche website, and the earnings have skyrocketed even though it is currently the tv off season. I have left my CPM ads and Adversal in page popups on the main pages and implemented CPALead on the episode pages.

Not only does the addition of CPA advertising dramatically increase the website’s profit, but the average CPM increases substantially. Instead of making ~$1.18 / 1,000 page views, this website is making $7.30 / 1,000 page views. This means that when this tv series starts up again with their new season I will be earning thousands of dollars per month instead of hundreds per month. Over a 500% increase in profit margin can be seen after the implementation of CPALead on this website. Note that the profit from CPA ads is a lot bouncier and more variable on a daily basis compared to CPM ads; this website earned anywhere from $20 to $75 from CPALead depending on the day. Acknowledge that daily profits may be more variable when using CPA ads, but for this website average profit saw a considerable increase. Does this mean that you should use CPALead on all of your websites? Absolutely not; CPALead works fantastic on some websites, but on others it may even drop your net profit and CPM. If you do plan on implementing CPALead or other CPA advertising methods, I strongly encourage you to track your CPM and profit over the period of a week or month, so that you can see if CPALead (You loss nothing by signing up under my referral code) is the right thing for your website.

Adversal’s inpage popups are very appealing to me as they are much less intrusive to visitors. I set my Adversal inpage popups to only show twice per 30 minute user session. In reality though poups, even inpage popups, can be a hassle and drive visitors away from your site. I feel that 2 ads per 30 minute session is a reasonable amount to generate a significant amount of revenue, but also maintain visitor loyalty and visitor’s enjoyment of stay. There is an excellent way to combine conventional CPM advertising along with Adversal, so that you maintain minimal hassle to visitors but create an optimal level of revenue from visitors.

Combining regular CPM networks with Adversal can lead to a great increase in profit from your sites. I have doubled and even tripled the revenue on some of my websites by applying Adversal and CPM networks without any adverse affects to my bounce rate or length of visit. This all sounds great, but getting into the Adversal publisher network can be challenging. It all depends on your niche, percent of traffic that comes from North America, and the quality of your site. If you get rejected by Adversal, try applying with another website of a different niche. You can always add sites into your account after you are accepted. I encourage you to try out Adversal in combination with conventional CPM networks.

Popup and popunder ads through Adversal, especially, compared to other publishers can be an effective way to generate more revenue than CPM or CPC ads; the CPM rates range from $1 to $5. While comparing these values to nonpopups and nonpopunder CPM values, you will see that popups and popunders can earn you 5-20 times more than regular CPM ad campaigns. However, is this extra revenue really worth it?

Popups and popunder ads can be one of the most annoying things while a users is browsing the web. When deciding to use popups or popunder ad campaigns, it is important to consider the side effects on your website visitors. How negative will the effect be on your visitors? Will your new visitor bounce rate jump enormously when you decide to display these ads? Will your visitors be understanding and accept these ads because the site needs money to run? Balancing whether to use popups and popunders with the effects that they may cause is extremely important.

Even if the rates of popups and popunders look enticing, you may be able to generate the same revenue with less hassle upon your visitors with the use of regular CPM or CPC ads. I strongly suggest that you consider using alternative methods to popups and popunder ad campaigns before diving into that area.

If you have decided to use popup or popunder ad campaigns, there are some nice features for publishers. Popups and popunders can only be displayed when a users enter, exits, or views a specific number of pages. You can also limit them, so that you will only show a single popup or popunder per 6 hour, 24 hours, 1 week, etc. These features are useful with respect to creating conditions that make popups and popunders less of a hassle upon your visitors.

I have chosen to avoid popups and popunders ad campaigns on most of my sites because I feel that they will be too much of an annoyance upon visitors, which in turn will lose your website popularity and reputation. I believe that this trade off is usually not worth the additional revenue.
